Finally...Hyperbolic'd out...
It dawned on me properly when I emptied my bag of crocheted coral out onto the floor, that I've taken hardly any pictures of it. I had so much fun doing the coral, I have pretty much done nothing else, but these crochet marathon sessions have left me feeling a bit jaded. I got so excited using strange materials, experimenting with shapes, that once I finished one piece it was straight onto the next. But now, I am finally hyperbolic'd out. I can do no more, well, I could, but its getting ridiculous, and I have a backlog of other things I need and want to do. So, here is a few pics of the coral I have been making for the Toxic Reef, it's all plastic.. And I am going to try get some techniques written up as well... Goodbye Coral, it was fun, but now it is over...

Monster Castles and Dingle Ocean World...
BUT, before I could concentrate on any of the above, I had to finish something I started for my son. We read lots and lots of stories, mostly fairly tales including princesses, handsome men and castles, so when the latest cardboard box arrived in the house, I promised him a castle. A week or two later, I finally finished it...

Boon Tea Room, Shroud, Clones Lace and Prudance Mapstone......
I spent several nights and days crocheting like a mad woman, because I though I didn't have enough of a display for the Cork Workshop. And finally, well half sorted out my plastic midden, got going on the Toxic Reef part of the project.

Coral Reef Day in Cork!
I have just been given the go ahead to stage a one day event as part of THE SPACE GALLERY in Cork.
"The Space Gallery is run by Cork Contemporary Projects, a multi-disciplinary collective who until now have operated utilising free spaces in the city for temporary exhibition sites. The Space, located on the top floor of No. 7 South Mall is the first permanent site CCP have secured and operates as an artist-led initiative which aims to provide emerging artists with a city centre location to practice, collaborate, network and exhibit."
The Plan
The plan is to have info about the project, and basically an open crocheting session. I particularly want to work on the toxic reef. So I will be bringing my 3 months worth of plastic midden along, and will hopefully be turning it into some beautiful but toxic coral...
Anyone interested in helping me out for the day, for a few hours, or even a few minutes is very, very welcome. Especially anyone that can explain the sciency stuff...Or if anyone has any ideas....PLEASE get in touch stitchlilyATgmailDOTcom
I also thought, it might be a good way to gather up any coral already made, as I'll be driving up to the Science Gallery at the deadline date. Anyone who would like to drop off their coral, and save on postage is very welcome. I'll have more info hopefully in a few days, when I get my s*... I mean thoughts together....
16th January 2010 - everyone welcome!!
