Making Tomorrow, CTN Textile Conference, Cork

On March 8th, I'm giving a workshop at MAKING TOMORROW, this years CTN Textile Conference

 'An Introduction to Social Media'.

Social media has its upside and downside. The upside - free advertising, networking, a great online arts community, especially if you live rural. The downside is, navigating through the different social media sites, its extremely time consuming, and coping with media stress. (The knowledge of what everyone had for breakfast (twitter), what movie they just watched last night (netflics), and what music they are currently listening to (spotify), etc. The whole tangled web of followers/unfollowers, likes, not enough likes, and general online etiquette.

In this workshop I plan to briefly outline the various social media websites, from Facebook to Pinterest, Twitter to Ravelry, their advantages and disadvantages, from a craft prospective.Using the dynamics of mind-mapping to shape a creative working model for a level of social media that suits your craft needs.

We would all rather spent our time crafting than typing, so use this visual aid technique to set media goals and more importantly time limits.

Technology is not important for this workshop. If you have a laptop/tablet great, but we'll be working more old school. Pen and paper will suffice.

If you have any questions about this workshop, please feel free to ask! Email stitchlilyATgmailDOTcom
