Everyone was invited to write their ideas, hopes and dreams of the future on postcards and the walls.
I'd written a very brief post about an upcoming Fís/Imagine Corca Dhuibhne (see here) - An instillation by Transition Towns Corca Dhuibhne in a derelict building for our Arts festival, Feile na Bealtaine.
Fís Corca Dhuibhne opened its doors on Thursday, the beginning of the festival, and quickly became the highlight of the festival. I know I'm a bit biased, being one of the participants, but it truly was a magnificent project, and a perfect example of transition towns ethics. People coming together, to share ideas, work, and possibilities of the future.
Stones and sods were gathered from all over the peninsula. I had to quickly do up the 'Please step on the grass sign' as people were not stepping on the grass
Its hard to describe what it was like, it was really an event that had to be seen. Over 70 locals ended up working on the project, which included builders, cleaners, painters, decorators, artists, craftspeople, writers, poets, musicians... And there was a steady flow of people who came to visit over the weekend. Some stayed for just a few minutes, some came every day. There were talks and workshops over the weekend, and the festival club on the Sunday was a huge success.
Everyone who visited was invited to write their hopes and dreams of the sustainable future of our pensinula on postcards, on paper or directly on the wall. All these thoughts will be gathered and analysed, to create a very clear picture of what the locals feel what is missing and what needs to be done. To try create a positive road map for our very uncertain future.
Local herbal tea anyone?
My photos wont upload here for some reason, I've had to post them onto flickr and then copy and paste them back here. Very annoying!. So, here are just a few of my favourites, head over to flickr to see more.

My spot was the interior doorway. to make something to hang on either side. I wanted to make something fun, so I made these fluffy (cardboard) clouds to hang on either side of the door. These clouds have detachable silver lining, because, well, you never know what the future holds!
I also hung some hot air balloons, among the clouds. (The future of transport when the oil runs out?)
