Shortlisted!!

 blog awards ireland

I've just found out I've been shortlisted for Blog Awards Ireland! Am delighted to be amongst such esteemed company. This years award is being kindly sponsored by Craftbay, a portal for a lovely range of Irish made goodies. I was lucky enough to be able to go to the Awards ceremony 2 years ago, it was a great night, but sadly, probably wont make it up there this year...

Am delighted to have been nominated for Best Craft Blog in the 2014 Blog Awards Ireland! Thank you to anyone who nominated me.

I've been enjoying getting my blog mojo back, though I havent been as creative as normal. I'm waiting on word from some different projects, that will see me though the winter, and am just enjoying this quiet time, though it feels like the calm before ths storm.

Welcome to 2014!!

The end of 2013 went like a whirlwind, I cant believe its been 3 months since my last blog post! Pathetic really. I have the usual complaints, dodgy dongle, faulty hardware, living on the edge of the known European Universe....But that's all about to change. After the disastrous few weeks of mad storms, being housebound with pretty much no internet connection, I have finally decided to get a landline, and, wait for it folks, UNLIMITED BROADBAND!!

Blog Awards Ireland

    blog awards ireland

I'm delighted to be nominated for a second year in the Best Craft Blog Category in the 2013 Blog Awards. Last year I was lucky enough to be shortlisted, and went along to the interesting and enjoyable awards night. There is such a fab community of bloggers on the East Coast, and they seem to be a very sociable bunch althogether, both online and in the real world!

A completely random post with random photos

I used to do a lot more walking, I used to do a lot more photography, I used to post more random photographs on this blog. I want to get back into walking, and photography, and posting more random photos on the blog. It'll mean even less computer time, more erratic posts, tweetings, etc, but what the hay. I need to walk more, and do more random things.

Good Advice (from my most honest critic)

This is the conversation I had with my 5yr old, the other morning, whilst getting him ready for school

Child: What are you doing today?
Me: I have to meet a few people
Child: Are you going to be chatting about 'the thing'
Me: Yes, I'm going to be chatting about 'the thing'
Child: You are doing a lot of chatting about the thing. Are you going to do any work?
Me (laughs)
Child: You haven't done any work in ages. You haven't made anything in ages.
Me: (not quite laughing) I know. I'd much rather be making something
Child: Then stop chatting and make something

He's right! He's bloody right! I gotta stop chatting and make something. I have been so caught up with 'the thing', talking/planning/writing/dreaming about 'the thing'. Its eating away at my making time.

You just gotta love kids! If we brought kids to meetings, they'd be honest, over very fast, and probably have ice-cream and fizzy drinks. I think we should always bring a kid to a meeting.

And to cheer me up (because he knows me too well, and knows I'll start going crazy if I don't make something soon), he drew me some pictures. I know mothers naturally love their kids pictures, but well...its tear jerking stuff....
