Electric Picnic 2010

It's almost time for Electric Picnic 2010!

Here's the plan again:
  • Sit ‘n Stitch Workshops: From 12pm - 4pm, there is crochet and knitting workshops
  • Loop ‘n Lounge Sessions! From 4pm - 6pm, there is an open stitching session, bring your own stitching to work on, practise your stitches, get hints and tips, or help make squares for Pink Creative Textile Auction blankets.

I'll be bringing lots of needles, hooks, yarn, books, and cushions. The weather is going to be fantastic, so come down say hello, hang out, make a few squares for Pink Creative Textile Auction...

Poor Neglected Blog...

Been up the walls with visitors, and general life stuff. And it's not over yet, another month of upheaval and crazy deadlines to go... (Why do all my deadlines have to be the beginning of September?)

Here's a few examples:

  • Electric Picnic: nothing done, be prepared for a very boring display this year, and practically nothing to sell...But then I did say it would be very chilled out sessions
  • Irish Crocheted Coral Reef Exhibition, Wicklow: First outing of the Irish Reef on what we hope will be a mini Irish tour. Have pretty much had to bow out, and have been of very little use. (Especially when I forget to attach things to emails, isn't that right Irene!). Am struggling to even get any new toxic coral made.
  • Film work: got asked to make a turn of the century, Navaho style, tapestry loom and to weave half a blanket on it. Except the design they gave me is absolutely crazy, (not even American Indian, it's Canadian Indian, but that's me being well, ethnically correct...), and it would take a winter or two at the very least! Then they decided they would let me design and make the original blanket as well as the half-woven blanket, and would I be able to whip up a few more blankets as well!! Did I mention it's silk? OK, a rough silk, open weave, but silk none the less, oh, and I have to dye it as well...Film people, you live in an un-realistic world
  • Another commission: a bit hush, hush at the moment, as I don't want to jinx it..

I will blog about each project, after it is over and successfully completed (very optimistic), and I doubt I'll have much time online over the next well, 2 weeks. So, time to go...

Oh, and did I mention I am moving house? Again...

What have I been up to?

2 blog posts in one evening?! Am making up for the last month, and possible the next month ahead, as it's going to be a busy one. Here's some updates on what I've been up to...

Electric Picnic is on!

Sit ‘n Stitch Workshops: From 12pm - 4pm, there is crochet and knitting workshops, suitable for beginners. And my favourite...Loop ‘n Lounge Sessions! From 4pm - 6pm, there is an open stitching session, bring your own stitching to work on, practise your stitches, get hints and tips, or help make squares for Pink Creative Textile Auction blankets.

I'm going for an overly mushroom theme this year, since everyone seemed to love them last year... I did have dreams of making a giant mushroom tent/marquee, but well, time, effort, and all that, it isn't happening. You'll have to make do with the smaller versions..

Shrek 4

Went to the cinema to see Shrek 4. The only Shrek movie I have seen in the cinema. Well, I still prefer the first one, and I was very disappointed there wasn't a spinning wheel in sight. Even my son noticed. So, he asked for a Shrek. It's not the best thing I've ever made, although I was quite happy with the ears, but I haven't gotten round to the boots yet... (Prob should have just gone into McDonalds and gotten a free one with a Happy Meal)

Furniture Making

Have been making some very rustic furniture for the Castle/Doll's House. Complete with cushions and throw!

Get out yer plastic and get crocheting!!

As I mentioned in a previous post, the Irish Toxic Reef has headed over to the Smithsonian, so we really need to get a new reef made for the Courthouse Arts Centre Exhibition, which is on September 12th to October 29th 2010.
